How to fix broken brass / iron bed?

I have an old iron bed brass overlay that I bought for $ 40 at a flea market five years ago. Last week, supporters held under the head gasket blown. This bed has a lot of sentimental value for me and I really like to have it fixed instead of getting rid of it. Should I call workers iron? I like the people who set up my door? Is there any type of fastener brass bed? While the bed is capable of being old is no prize. No I care to put $ 100 to $ 200 in it.

Agree / w hook. Repaired and restored a number of beds in the old antique shop. A couple of ways to go. The "legs" of the head and the handle on the old box springs support the weight of the mattress (and you) in the spring frame rails usually set in the head and feet w / cast iron "knuckles" If it's a mechanical solution may be better to have something modern inventions have used a "Harvard" frames type. You can order frames with footboard supports. You get rid of old mattress frame and was in a new box spring. Knuckle cut nearly flush w / the legs (if needed) and pierced through and bolted to the new structure. (W easy or a drill). Left of the cross angle iron cross between the legs in place. Removed the old wheels and set the legs a little high to avoid drag on the floor or carpet. The legs of the new frames are short and depending on the thickness box spring and mattress is a bit low. You can put 2x4 in the spring to raise cash if needed. The new and modern "framework" takes all the weight and is more easy to roll frames are cheap and if you can handle some cutting and drilling itself should be around $ 50 for everything. I think they charge around $ 100 or less long, including the frame, which was about $ 25 or $ 30 if there is a footboard adapter The "Gateway" computer must be able to handle and can be cheaper than a garage.
