What do you think about the lights hanging over the dining table?

Therefore, I have a living room that flows into the dining room, imagine a rectangular room, but in reality is 2 pieces. I am putting a ceiling fan in the room be and have been looking for a small chandelier to go above the dining table, something that does not overload the room or take away from the big fireplace the rear or outside of the fan's amazing what I have. I have fear that people wonder what hell I was thinking about putting a light fixture hanging from a table (as well as my husband is and her sister reacted.) What do you think? Should I go back and get a small "normal" room accessory, or do you think will look good with a single pendant over the table?

I really think that a pendant light is too small for more than a dining table. you should try to find a small chandlelier. I think a more appropreate pendant light for a breakfast bar or something like that. Perhaps some type of lighting resessed would be nice, or the lights on the tracks I think these always have a big wow factor in people. And with such can direct the light to what is best for you.
